Ingredients
- Rice- 1 cup
- Baby onions- 5 to 7
- Baby potatoes- 3 to 4
- Small Brinjal- 2 to 3
- Ghee- 3 tbsp
- Asafoetida- a pinch
- Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
- Green peas- ¼ cup
- Rentio toor dal- 1/3 cup
- Salt to taste
For masala mixture
- Coriander cumin-seeds- 2 tbsp
- Sugar- 1 tbsp
- Chili powder- 1.5 tbsp
- Grated coconut- ¾ cup
- Chopped coriander- 1/3 cup
- Asafoetida- a pinch
- Salt to taste
How to make ek toap na dal bhat?
- Wash the dal and rice; soak it in a bowl at least for 15-20 minutes. Drain and keep it aside.
- Make criss-cross slits on the potatoes, onions, and Brinjal but make sure that the segment should not be separate.
- Now stuff each of the onions, potatoes, and Brinjal evenly with masala mixture and keep it aside.
- Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker, add rice, toor dal, asafoetida, turmeric powder and saute on a medium flame for 1 minute.
- Add stuffed vegetables, salt, green peas, water, mix gently and pressure cook on a high flame for 3 whistles.
- Let the pressure of the cooker release on its own.
- Once the pressure of the cooker released then, open the lid of the cooker.
- Add remaining 1 tbsp ghee and mix it well.
- Served hot with chaas.
