How to make ek toap na dal bhat?

  1. Wash the dal and rice; soak it in a bowl at least for 15-20 minutes. Drain and keep it aside.
  2. Make criss-cross slits on the potatoes, onions, and Brinjal but make sure that the segment should not be separate.
  3. Now stuff each of the onions, potatoes, and Brinjal evenly with masala mixture and keep it aside.
  4. Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker, add rice, toor dal, asafoetida, turmeric powder and saute on a medium flame for 1 minute.

For the masala

  1. Heat the oil in a non-stick frypan and all the ingredients which are listed for the masala and saute it on a low flame for 4-5 minutes.
  2. Once it is cool blend it in a mixer to a fine powder and, keep it aside.

How to proceed

  1. Wash the rice and soak it at least for 2 hours and keep it aside.
